Bread : Black Art

“What’s this black thingy?” Look horrifying sooty at first sight but adorable on the second; with ears attached to their ebony bodies. Those white glaring eyes intrigue me to purchase one pair at RM2.10 and despite travelling with them a long way before I reach my hotel room, they still retain their fluffiness. The mashy red-mung-bean-paste-filling that exudes is sweet to a tee and I have a good time devouring them with my chum!

Artisanal Chocolates from Chef Clement Ronald Ng

Freshly-made sans preservatives and encasing herbs & spices such as lemongrass, raspberry & clove, black pepper et al. Fashioned like cufflinks and gingerly embellished; the make of these chocolates will unequivocally chime with weight-watchers.

“My best seller is Black Pepper!” Chef Clement enthused as we polished off the chocolates on the plate. Being an avid herbalist himself, Chef Clement loves to infuse herbs into his culinary. His cultivated mint leaves smack fruity notes of pineapple and hints of dark chocolate which tantalized my taste buds and left me speechless...for a while in amazement.

A pity his Eden Sanctuary Floral CafĂ© has just shuttered to make way for bigger and better plans! But, do still keep his future oeuvre on your radar screen…http://www.kocolife.com/. We heard he is going to organize overseas culinary trips and local surprise dining that conjure ‘unplugged’ flavors; where venue and cuisine will only be revealed at the eleventh hour.

(For sales enquiries on the chocolates or potted herbs, pls contact Chef Clement directly at 65 92769408 or clement@kocolife.com!)

Golden Drops

Having problems with an obstinate sore throat that is triggering an impending cough? Try sucking a ‘Golden’ drop which, unlike some lozenges that leave a stinging-sensation aftertaste, is satiny-soothing as it yields its healing properties. It is neither cloying nor bitter-lingering but pleasant on the palate. Always remember: A lozenge is supposed to alleviate your sore throat and not aggravate it!

*Available at Traditional Chinese Medical Halls and retailing at SGD2.00 per box.
